POLITICAL WORKSHOP MATERIALS
Below are links, videos (coming soon) and downloadable materials for all the workshops. Scroll down to find yours. (And you’re welcome to check out the materials from the other workshops as well.)
POLITICS 1 MATERIALS
The best way to prepare for the Politics 1 workshop is to take a glance over the Constitution, which you can download below. We will be looking mainly at parts of Article 1 and Article 2, so that would be where to focus.
CLASS DOCUMENT:
During the workshop, we will use this document during our breakout sessions. Please take a moment to practice going back and forth between Zoom and this document. (The simplest way might be to just print out the PDF.) The document can be accessed in two ways:
SLIDE SHOW
You have the options below to download the slideshow in black-and-white or color. While B/W will certainly be easier on your printer’s ink, it looks much better in color. And this is politics, so there are a few references to red and blue that will somewhat get lost in B/W.
OTHER MATERIALS (OPTIONAL):
The Constitution of the United States
We will look at Article 1 and Article 2 of the U.S. Constitution. They are short, but dense. It’s worth your time to take a look at them before the workshop.
POLITICS 2 MATERIALS
CLASS DOCUMENT:
During the workshop, we will use this document during our breakout sessions. Please take a moment to practice going back and forth between Zoom and this document. (The simplest way might be to just print out the PDF.) The document can be accessed in two ways:

OTHER MATERIALS (REQUIRED):
The Bill of Rights
We will look at the Bill of Rights in detail. It will be beneficial for you to look over it before the workshop.
OTHER MATERIALS (OPTIONAL):
In both Politics 1 and Politics 2, we have been discussing the United States Constitution. You can download it here. We will also talk about liberal and conservative ideology and the Democratic and Republican parties. You can check out their official party platforms below.
The Constitution of the United States
2016 Republican National Committee Platform
2016 Democratic National Committee Platform
OTHER MATERIALS (POST-WORKSHOP READINGS):
And finally, if this workshop inspired you to go even further, you can read the Supreme Court opinions for some of the cases we discuss. Absolutely no reason to attempt to read any of these before the workshop:
New York Times Company v. United States
District of Columbia v. Heller
Bostock v. Clayton County, Arizona Pt. 1
Bostock v. Clayton County, Arizona Pt. 2
